“throw me in the fire now, come on.” —the tallest man on earth

at present my world is full of amazing things

a bunch of carnations that has survived well longer than i guessed they would, the flowering jasmin outside my window, the blue sky defying autumns smothering clouds and the crisp salty southerly that ebbs and flows like the tide it has blown in on.

a dog that has decided to love me unrelentlessly and food that i eat for more than sustainance and a boy who holds me, body and mind. books and old friends and sunshine and coffee and family to laugh with and music which lifts my soul.

clearly, i am happy.

we ate sandwhiches while we waited for the wind to turn.

we walked over rocks that knew the colours of the sun.

kissed by the lagoon.

waded into a sea of jellyfish, who im sure were chattering in their luminescent language

and dove beneath the glassy surface into a kaleidoscope of fish

saw the funeral of a sting-ray.

we lost our clothes amongst the cliffs

stepped into liquid. skin and salt

laughed at our own youth

but felt like mermaids.

slept like lizards on beds of pebbles.

left paradise with the dying sun.
